Purple Mountains Majesty

My friend, Maria, was moving into her new home.  What better gift than something to keep her warm?  Purple is her favorite color and the pattern is Rancher's Daughters by Debbie Caffrey.  Being the rebel that I am, I made a little change...it is bigger than the original pattern.

The blocks are starting to come together.

Adding a few mountains around the stars.

Now to add a few stitches to keep the layers together.

The final product on Maria's bed.

It is keeping her warm lately, since the weather has turned cold these last few weeks.  Here's hoping it keeps her warm for many more years to come, and makes her feel wrapped with my love!

A Success Story

This is a quilt I made for my Momma.  It is one of the last two I had quilted by someone else (Kay S in Seguin, TX) before hubby got me my very own longarm machine...a Babylock Crown Jewel on a 10' Majestic frame.  I think she did a beautiful job, don't you?

These two corners were quilted with the same motif.  They are not the same size.

The teacher for the class was Sherry L, in Columbia, SC.  Momma was visiting and we took a trip into Columbia.  Of course, we had to go by the LQS!  She saw the class sample and quipped, "You could make that one for me!"  Oh, sure!!!  It took me over two years just to get the top done.  I wanted Sherry L to quilt it for me, but life happened and she sent it back to me, more than two years later.  I found Kay S, and I was finally able to present the quilt to Momma.  I think she likes it...it has only been off her bed for an occasional bath since it arrived in her house!  A success story!  My measure for "success"?  It is being used!
